Seven vying for Miss Paynesville title

Seven girls will be vying for the title of Miss Paynesville 1997 on Monday evening. The pageant starts at 8 p.m. at the Paynesville Area Elementary School auditorium.

The candidates are:
Nicole Orbeck
Nicole, 18, is the daughter of Jerome and Gayla Orbeck. She has been involved in basketball, color guard, was track captain for two years, yearbook, and was an AAA Award winner and Silver Award winner in Girl Scouts.
Her hobbies include swimming, roller-blading, and spending time with family and friends.
She will be playing her clarinet during the talent portion of the pageant, and her sponsor is Lieser Insurance Agency.

DeAnne Neuroth
DeAnne, 18, is the granddaughter of Judith Mewhorter. She has been involved in cross country and choir.
Her hobbies include collecting teddy bears, reading, and cross-stitching.
She will be singing during the talent portion of the pageant, and her sponsor is the Melrose Credit Union.

Rissa Elliott
Rissa, 17, is the daughter of Stacey Elliott and Michael Barg. She has been involved in choir, German Club, basketball, intramural volleyball, and is a member of Carpenter’s Tools.
Her hobbies include spending time outdoors, hunting, water and snow skiing, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends.
Rissa will be singing during the talent portion of the pageant, and her sponsor is Kopy Shots.

Michelle Glenz
Michelle, 18, is the daughter of Michael and Debora Glenz. She has been involved in volleyball, letterwinners club, Bark staff, was an MS volunteer at Camp Courage, a St. Jude’s bike-a-thon winner, and captain of the cheerleading squad.
Her hobbies include playing volleyball, shopping, dancing, and spending time with friends and family.
She will be performing a skit during the talent portion of the pageant and her sponsor is Farmers and Merchants State Bank.

Maria Wegner
Maria, 17, is the daughter of Nancy Nistler Hennen and Tim Wegner. She has been involved in softball, cross country, letterwinners club, drumline, peer helpers, peer tutors, and was a two-time All-Conference and one-time Honorable Mention in gymnastics.
Her hobbies include gymnastics, running, riding bike, water skiing, and jumping on the trampoline.
She will be performing a mallet percussion solo during the talent portion of the pageant, and her sponsor is the Dairy Queen.

Anne Nelson
Anne, 16, is the daughter of Chuck and Patricia Nelson. She has been involved in band, jazz band, marching band, German Club, letterwinners club, student council, prom committee, church youth group, National Honor Society, adopt-a-highway, and was danceline captain.
Her hobbies include swimming, water skiing, volleyball, tennis, camping, hiking, boating, and spending time with friends and family.
She will be playing her saxophone during the talent portion of the pageant, and her sponsor is Community First National Bank.

Tricia Butkofski
Tricia, 17, is the daughter of Jim and Debi Butkofski. She has been involved in choir, pops choir, peer helpers, peer tutors, ECFE, and is a member of On Call.
Her hobbies include swimming, volleyball, going for walks, singing, and being with friends.
She will be performing a vocal solo during the talent portion, and her sponsor is Wishin’ Well Cafe and Floral.
