Town and Country Days coming to Paynesville from June 17-21

Town and Country Days - with the theme "Waves and Shades" - is coming to Paynesville from Saturday, June 17, to Wednesday, June 21.

On Saturday, June 17, a mini-triathalon will be held again with canoeing on Lake Koronis, biking around Lake Koronis, and running on Old Lake Road. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park with the race starting at 10 a.m. The Peeper's Picnic will follow the mini-triathalon at 12 noon at Veteran's Memorial Park, with kids' games prior to the picnic. The Little Miss and Mister Dairy Queen Contest will be held at 1:30 p.m. also at the city beach.

The Paynesville Area Center will host a meal from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and a street dance (with a beer garden) will be held on Augusta Avenue starting at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, an open house at the Paynesville Area Historical Museum will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. On Monday, a seniors' dance (with polkas and old-time music) will be held at the Paynesville Area Center from 2 to 5 p.m. And the Miss Paynesville pageant will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Paynesville Area High School.

On Tuesday, the pet show will be held at 10 a.m. at the Koronis Manor, the carnival will start in downtown Paynesville at 12 noon, and the kiddie parade (starting at the Koronis Manor to the Gazebo Park) will start at 3 p.m. In the evening, at 7 p.m., the pedal tractor pull (for kids ages 4-11) will be held on James Street. Advance ticket sales for the carnival are available at the local financial institutions and grocery stores.

On Wednesday, the carnival and food booths will open again at 12 noon, and the grand parade (from the Industrial Park, down Washburne Avenue, past the elementary school, and ending at St. Louis Catholic Church) will start at 7 p.m. Due to the street project, the parade route will be altered slightly this year. When the parade gets to the Highway 23/Washburne intersection, it will jog a block west on Highway 23 and go down Augusta Avenue to the elementary school. Then it resumes its normal route.
