The day they had long been waiting for finally arrived...graduation. Ninety five seniors were awarded diplomas Friday, May 31, in commencement ceremonies. Student speakers were Christine Torborg and Beth Nelson.

Dean Hanson announced the Paynesville Citizen's Scholarship Foundation awards. More than 40 students received scholarships totaling about $14,000. The class had 45 honor students.

This year's class had two milestones to recognize. The class had two students with perfect or near perfect attendance. Since first grade, Alan Schlangen had not missed a day of school and Jay Zumwalde missed only a half day of school back in third grade. The class also has two sets of twins: Stacey and Shelly Liestman and Steve and Matt Koehn.
