Sports Center has new salesman

By Bonnie Jo Hanson

Jason Varholdt new employee Jason Varholdt is the newest addition to the staff at the Paynesville Sports Center.

As a salesman, Varholdt will be responsible for meeting customer's needs, whether they are shopping for a boat, personal watercraft, snowmobile, ATV, or accessories.

Varholdt came to Sports Center from Willmar where he held a similar position. Previous to that, he worked as a service writer for a Twin Cities car dealer.

Varholdt started his new job in March, and so far his biggest challenge has been getting to know the products, he said. Although he has personal experience with many of the products he sells, they are constantly changing and sometimes it's difficult to keep up, he added.

The Paynesville Sports Center is the first job he's had that he can see keeping for the long term, he said. His customers have been great, he added, and the community has made him feel welcome.

Varholdt and his wife Angie moved to the area from the Twin Cities about six months ago after deciding they wanted to live on a lake, something they couldn't afford to do in the metro area. The couple, along with their kids Curt, 14, and Danielle, 12, live on Big Lake near Richmond.

Varholdt is a NASCAR enthusiast, and he loves to fish. A great day is when he comes home from work and can go straight to the lake, he said.
