Bank in St. Martin robbed

The St. Martin National Bank was robbed on Friday afternoon when a lone white male entered the bank, displayed a handgun concealed in his waistband, and demanded cash, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Department.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken by the suspect, who left the bank with the money in a white plastic bag.

The robbery took place at 2:29 p.m. on Friday afternoon. No one was injured during the robbery.

Bank employees were able to describe the suspect, and the bank recorded the suspect on its video surveillance, which was released to the public over the weekend.

In the early morning hours on Sunday, St. Cloud police officers arrested Adam Fuchs, 24, in a St. Cloud motel. Fuchs, no present address, is being held in the Stearns County Jail on bank robbery charges and on theft of a motor vehicle charges, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Department.

The car that law enforcement officials believe was used in the robbery - a 2000 Dodge Neon - was recovered in the city of Paynesville on Saturday evening. The car was determined as stolen from a dealership in St. Cloud.

On Sunday, Paynesville Police Officers found gloves and a handgun in two dumpsters within the city of Paynesville. Police believe these items were used in the bank robbery.

In addition to local police departments, the FBI assisted the Stearns County Sheriff's Department in the investigation. The case will be forwarded to the United States Attorney for federal bank robbery charges, according to the sheriff's department.
