Lindsey Moser, Sarah Lahr, and Rachel Gifford, Paynesville, attended the national DECA competition in Denver, Colo., April 25 to 29.

All three girls came home with honors as they reached the finals in their respective categories.

Moser and Lahr competed in the "learn and earn" division. They had to write a 40-page paper on their business, fruit sales, and do interviews. The two made the top 18 out of 120 contestants.

Moser was also the recipient of a national marketing honor award. Nominated by her instructor, Wally Erickson, she was the only student from Minnesota to receive the award at the national competition.

Gifford competed in "marketing management series." She was required to complete a 100-point comprehensive exam and perform two role plays. Eighteen students were selected to be among the finalists out of 140 entries.

Since she made the finals, she had to perform a third role play, which placed her in the top 10. Gifford earned three medals at the national competition.
