FFA dairy team places at state

The PAHS dairy judging team placed seventh at the state FFA contest recently.

Seniors Adam Flanders and Stephen Lenzmeier of PAHS and juniors Ellie Opitz and Leah Molitor of Rocori comprised the dairy judging team, which had placed third at regions to advance to state.

Senior Niki Meier of Rocori was an alternate. (This year, Rocori students are taking ag classes at PAHS and participating.)

Opitz placed 16th individually at state, while Lenzmeier, who was fourth at regions, was 26th at state. Both Flanders and Lenzmeier also received their state degrees at the state convention, becoming the first PAHS FFA students to earn this honor since 1982.

The PAHS horse judging team, which took first at regions last fall, placed 31st at state. Sophomore Kaitlyn Frenchick took 18th at state this year after placing 19th at state last year. Frenchick had taken third at regions while teammate junior Brittney Spanier was second. Ninth grader Mary Herding also competed with the horse judging team at state.

The livestock judging team for PAHS just missed qualifying for state this spring by six points. Joey Higgins led the team by placing fifth at regions and qualified for state individually.
