Fire and road restrictions lifted in Stearns County

The Department of Natural Resources lifted spring fire restrictions for 13 Minnesota counties, including Stearns County, on Monday, May 2. Burning restrictions went into effect in Stearns County on Monday, April 4. Restrictions were removed since the greening of fine fuels has occurred and wildfire conditions have eased.

The DNR advises residents to follow these steps when burning: get a burning permit, follow all burning laws and regulations, burn small piles that can be controlled, and attend the fire until completely extinguished.

Road Restrictions
Seasonal road restrictions were scheduled to be lifted in the central portion of Minnesota this week. Spring road restrictions were lifted in southern Minnesota and the metro area on Wednesday, May 4. Spring road restrictions are scheduled to be lifted in central Minne-sota - and by Stearns County - on Thursday, May 12, at 12:01 a.m. Spring road restrictions are scheduled to end in northern Minnesota on Friday, May 20.
