Paynesville Township opened bids on road work

By Michael Jacobson

The Paynesville Township Board of Supervisors took the following actions at their meeting on Monday, April 28.

•The board opened bids for improvements on NW Koronis Road, Crestridge Road, and Breezewood Road.

The project entails overlaying all of Crestridge Road, reclaiming a mile and a half length of NW Koronis Road and Breezewood Road, and reducing the crest of the hill near the intersection of NW Koronis Road and Crestridge Road.

A separate eight-foot pedestrian trail would also be built along these roads, starting on Crest Ridge Road at the intersection with Co. Rd. 181 and ending at the junction between Breezewood Road and Baywater Road.

The township received seven bids, with the low bidder being Duininck Brothers for $347,824. Second lowest was Midcontinent at $360,493, and third was Mathiowetz Construction Company at $365,432. The township board is going to have these bids reviewed by the engineering firm of SEH before awarding the bid. The township board met again on Monday night to discuss this project.

•The board granted a utility easement to the city of Paynesville again to place an irrigation pipe from the city lagoons in the ditch along 195th Street.

•The board granted a variance to Jon and Patty Hauer to build a garage 12 feet closer to a township road than the ordinance allows. Several garages owned by their neighbors were this close or closer to the road.

•The board approved a variance for Bob and Jane Stoneburner to build an accessory building closer to a road than the ordinance allows.

•The board reviewed the El-Mar Acres plat, which has 15 lots ranging in size from 1.96 to 2.00 acres. This plat is on the western side of Paynesville Township.
