Speech has short, but successful season

This article submitted by Amber Ingalsbe on 04/22/97.

The Paynesville Area High School speech team, coached by Karlin Jacoby, had a short but successful season. The team attended meets in Sauk Centre, Sauk Rapids, Swanville, Sartell (sub-sections) and Albany (sections).

At the sub-section meet, medals were given to the top six speakers in each category who then advanced to the section meet. The seventh and eighth place speakers were alternates.

Mackenzie Merrill and Amber Ingalsbe each placed fourth in their categories. Anne Janotta and Rachel Miller were named alternates. Merrill and Ingalsbe competed in the section meet, but did not place.

The speech team members thank Jacoby for all her hard work and the parents for getting up early to bring the students to the meets and staying up late to pick them up afterward. We had a great season with a young team, and look forward to an even better season and team next year.
