Hegstrom sentenced on federal drug charges

Daniel Schroeder, 32, and Scott Hegstrom, 35, both of Spicer, were part of a methamphetamine trafficking ring in the Willmar area. They were both sentenced April 21 in United States District Court.

Schroeder was sentenced to 30 months in prison for trafficking in methamphetamine. Hegstrom was sentenced to 40 months in prison for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamines. Hegstrom’s sentence will run consecutive to a 154-month sentence he received based upon his conviction for a triple vehicle homicide which killed three Paynesville people.

The CEE VI Drug Task Force began investigating the drug operation in the summer of 1994. Four co-defendants also pleaded guilty and await sentencing.
