Paynesville man charged with assault

Eric Roger Schlangen, 18, appeared in Stearns County District Court on Monday, March 16, on criminal sexual conduct charges in the second degree.

The complaint was filed on Oct. 29, 1997 with the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department by the mother of the five-year-old allegedly assaulted by Schlangen.

According to court records, Schlangen lived at the residence and worked as a farm hand in Zion Township. Schlangen also had baby sat for the family’s children several times over the last year.

Court records show Schlangen admitted touching the boy while he was baby sitting.

Maximum sentence which could be given to Schlangen is 25 years imprisonment and/or a $35,000 fine.

Schlangen’s next court date is Friday, May 8, at 2:30 p.m.
