Area charity drives gives away $25, 282

The Paynesville Area Charity Fund raised $25,282 during their regular drive and $7,847 for the Friends of the Library last year. “The board wishes to thank everyone who contributed and helped our community to achieve its 1996 goals,” Don Torbenson, board spokesperson, said.

Checks received after March 1 from payroll deductions for hospital, school and UPS employees are being applied to the 1997 Charity Fund.

The public is invited to attend the annual meeting at the Paynesville Area Senior Center on Tuesday, July 15, at 8 p.m. “Your suggestions for the improvement of the fund drive or the addition of new members to the board is appreciated.

Board members are Willie Butkofski, Barb Elseth, Phyllis Gardner, Jeanne Heineman, Fay Jones, Don and Helen Lehman, Ray Lindeman, Bev Mueller, Joe Spaulding, Judy Stanley, Leanne Tangen and Don Torbenson.
