Students of the Month chosen for March at PAMS

By Michael Jacobson

Sixth grader Allison Weidner, seventh grader Laura Schaefer, and eighth grader Morgan Kern have been selected as Students of the Month for March at Paynesville Area Middle School.

Each month, teachers at PAMS select a student from each grade for their work in the classroom and their relations with other students and school staff.

Kern said that she was happy and glad that her teachers picked her to be Student of the Month.

Students of the Month for March at PAMS are sixth grader Allison Weidner, seventh grader Laura Schaefer, and eighth grader Morgan Kern.

"I'm honored and surprised to have the award," agreed Weidner, while Schaefer thought it was great to receive the award.

Weidner, the daughter of Scott and JoAnn Weidner, likes playing volleyball and basketball, likes to bike and play with her dog, and likes spending time with her family and friends. When asked why she thought she received the award, she said, "I try my best, study, and try to keep a good attitude."

Her teachers state that she enjoys learning and works hard to gain a deeper understanding, asks good questions, is friendly to her peers and teachers, and is cooperative and works well in group projects.

Schaefer, the daughter of Terry and Carol Schaefer and Brenda Schaefer, plays volleyball, basketball, and softball at school and also sings in the choir and plays in the band. Outside of school, she likes playing sports and being with her friends.

She thinks she was chosen for the award "because I've been respectful to everyone and have a good attitude," she said.

Her teachers say that she is polite and considerate, a consistent worker, gets along well with classmates, and demonstrates maturity.

Kern, the daughter of Randy and Doreen Kern, plays in the school band and likes to hang out with friends and listen to music away from school. She thinks she was selected as Student of the Month because "I get good grades and get my homework done," she said.

Her teachers feel that she is responsible, polite, friendly to classmates and teachers, and works hard and does well in the classroom.
