Students of the Month chosen at PAMS

By Michael Jacobson

Students of the Month were named recently at Paynesville Area Middle School for the months of February and March.

Each month, teachers recognize three students in the middle school - one per grade - for their attention and work in school and their cooperation and relations with other students and the school staff.

Honored for February were sixth grader Tyler Hemmesch, seventh grader Carly Lemkuhl, and eighth grader Stacy Orbeck. Honored for March were sixth grader Mary Jo Prentice, seventh grader Andrew Reiman, and eighth grader Shane Kampsen.

sotm Hemmesch, the son of Lisa and Roger Hemmesch, plays football and wrestles and also likes baseball. He thinks he received the award because he got good grades.

Students of the Month were named recently at Paynesville Area Middle School for February and March. For February (seated) sixth grader Tyler Hemmesch, seventh grader Carly Lemkuhl, and eight grader Stacy Orbeck were honored; for March (standing) sixth grader Mary Jo Prentice, seventh grader Andrew Reiman, and eighth grader Shane Kampsen were chosen.

His teachers said that Tyler is very responsible, generous, and friendly and that he applies himself in the classroom, in school, and in the community.

Lemkuhl, the daughter of Brenda and Steve Lemkuhl, plays volleyball, basketball, and softball at school. She also likes to hunt and to skateboard. She thinks she won the award because she is a great student.

Her teachers state that Carly is a good student who applies herself in the classroom. She is responsible, determined to do well, and friendly. Orbeck, the daughter of Betty and Dennis Orbeck, plays volleyball and runs track at school. She also likes to draw. She was proud to earn this honor and thinks she was picked because she worked hard in class.

Her teachers said that Stacy is quiet but a hard worker who is responsible and friendly.

Prentice, the daughter of Larry and Laura Prentice, likes to ride four-wheelers, to ride horses, and to ride dirt bikes. She said she was proud to get the award and thinks she got it because she respects people and is a pretty good student.

Her teachers described Mary Jo as a pleasant individual who works hard and has a positive attitude. She is respectful and caring to other students and to teachers.

Reiman, the son of Ken and Patricia Reiman, plays in the school band and likes to fish, snowmobile, sled, and ride bike away from school. He was surprised, at first, to receive this award but also happy, he said, and he isn't sure why he won.

His teachers said that Andrew is a quiet student who focuses on his tasks, contributes in class, has a positive attitude and outlook, and is responsible.

Kampsen, the son of Liza Kampsen, plays football, basketball, and baseball in school and describes sports as his favorite hobby. He thinks he won the award because he's doing good in school.

His teachers state that Shane is polite, respectful, hard working, friendly, and willing to assist other students as well as adults.
