Scott Ingalsbe, a junior at Paynesville Area High School, has been chosen as a delegate to the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth next summer. Ingalsbe was named a delegate after winning the state speech and essay competition, sponsored by the Minnesota Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.

The Minnesota Jurisdictional Lodge competition was held in Winnebago, Minn., on March 5. Participants prepared an essay and speech on any issue of their choice involving work of the United Nations in today's world. Ingalsbe spoke about Iraq and its reluctance to cooperate with UN weapons inspection teams.

Each candidate was interviewed by seven judges who then chose one delegate for the trip.

Participants from all over the country will tour Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Niagara Falls, and New York during the 13-day pilgrimage. Highlighting the trip will be special briefing sessions and educational programs at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Scott, the son of Dave and Barb Ingalsbe, was sponsored in the competition by the Paynesville Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.
