Pastor accepts call in Red Wing

By Michael Jacobson

Rev. Wayne Walther - who has served as the executive director at the Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds for six years - has accepted a call to the First United Methodist Church in Red Wing, Minn. Walther will end his duties at the Methodist church camp on Lake Koronis at the end of April and will start his new duties in Red Wing in July.

The Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds - founded in 1921 - occupies 200 acres on Lake Koronis. It annually draws about 7,500 guests totalling over 20,000 user days.

The Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds has launched a national search for a new executive director and hopes to have a new director in place by mid-April for a smooth transition with Walther.

Prior to coming to the Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds, Walther served at churches in LeSueur and Savage.

Walther also served on the board of directors for the Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce and was chosen as Boss of the Year in 2002 by the Chamber. He and his wife, Sue, will be purchasing their first home in Red Wing.
