The Boston police are investigating the shootings of Lenz, his roommate Gene Yazgur, and a dog that was in the apartment. Police are trying to find a motive and suspects for the shootings.
Lenz's roommate is listed in critical condition at Beth Israel Hospital.
Lenz is the son of Robert and Kathy Lenz, Paynesville. According to his mother, her son was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A 1994 graduate of Paynesville, Lenz was a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts working on his doctorate in English.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Johnson Funeral Home.
