County board takes action on local zoning

By Michael Jacobson

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners took the following actions at their recent meetings.

*On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the board approved, on a 4-1 vote, a rezoning request by Clifford and Donna Knebel of Paynesville. The Knebels rezoned approximately 40 acres in Section 36 of Zion Township from an agricultural 80 (A-80) zoning district to a transitional 20 (T-20) zoning district. On roll call vote, commissioners Haws, Lenzmeier, Sakry, and Schaefer voted in favor of the rezoning while Commissioner Don Otte voted against it.

*On Tuesday, Jan. 3, the board approved its annual board and committees for 2006, including the following members from the Paynesville area: Ray Loxtercamp (Feedlot Review Committee), Jeff Bertram (Planning Commission), and Don Pietch (Shoreland Review Panel). The county's Dairy Advisory Committee still has two open positions, for which the county is advertising.
