Area residents are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions on various topics which concern them in the election process. They also endorse their favorite candidates for political office.
At the local precinct caucus, delegates are selected to attend the county caucus. The county caucus is scheduled in April. The delegates elected at the county level advance to both the district and state conventions.
People are allowed to bring resolutions on any topic they consider an issue they perceive could be addressed by the government. The issues are voted upon at the caucus level and if approved, go onto a committee where they are combined with like resolutions from other precinct caucuses. The resolutions are then brought before the county convention and acted upon there. Those that pass at the county level, go onto the district, then to the state convention. At the state convention, the ones approved become the party platform.
