Son buys auto shop from father

By Bonnie Jo Hanson

J&M Auto Service in Paynesville has a new generation of ownership. After a six-month transition period, Denny Nacey became the new owner of J&M in January after purchasing the business from his father, Merle.

Dennis Nacey Denny has over 30 years experience in auto repair. He began helping around the shop and washing parts while he was still a youngster. He went to work full-time for his father after getting a technical degree in auto mechanics.

Currently, Denny drives the tow truck and is involved in all phases of auto mechanics, his specialty being electronics.

Merle opened J&M in 1967 with partner Joe Schroeder. After spending 37 years working at the shop, Merle and his wife, Grace, are looking forward to retirement, although they both continue to work part-time for now.

Denny, a single father, lives near Lake Koronis with his daughter. Besides running his shop, he is also the civil defense coordinator for the city of Paynesville as well as an assistant chief for the Paynesville Fire Department.
