Township elections, annual meetings coming on March 8

Annual township elections and meetings will be held on Tuesday, March 8, in all the local townships. In each township, a supervisor (for three years) and a treasurer (for two years) will be elected.

In the Paynesville area, four township races are contested. In Lake Henry Township, incumbent supervisor Celestine Fischbach is being challenged by Gary Olmscheid, and incumbent treasurer Ray Loxtercamp is being challenged by Ray Nietfeld. In Munson Township, Gerard Gertken and Denis Hemmesch are vying for an open seat, as incumbent supervisor Tom Gertken did not refile. And in Roseville Township, incumbent supervisor Mike Flanders is being challenged by Allen Keller.

In Paynesville Township, incumbent supervisor Pat Meagher has refiled and, for the first time since 1997, the supervisor race in Paynesville Township is unopposed, though the challenge came by write-in campaigns in 1999 and 2000.
