Seven place in speech meet at Swanville

The PAHS speech team had seven members place at their second meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 11, at Upsala-Swanville.

Taking first for the second straight meet was senior Caitlin Lien in informative speaking.

For the past two years, Lien has placed third at sections and advanced to the state speech meet in informative speech. Two years ago, her topic was dreams, last year it was Alexander the Great, and this year it is bioterrorism.

Senior Lauren Vaske placed second at Swanville and also earned a medal in great speeches.

Placing fourth for PAHS were junior Hailey Bundy in discussion, sophomore Natasha Fangmeier in poetry, junior Erica Geurts in creative expression, and ninth grader Karla Leitzman in storytelling. Ninth grader Ralph Daby placed fifth in storytelling.

Also earning team points for PAHS were: ninth grader Kaitlin Burlingame, sophomore Katrina Daby, sophomore Meghan Doll, ninth grader Brianna Fischbach, ninth grader Dillon Herem, and senior Emily Rainey.

This week, the speech team will host their home meet on Saturday, Feb. 18.
