Website earns honorable mention

By Michael Jacobson

The Paynesville Press's website - www.paynesvillearea.com - earned honorable mention recognition in the annual Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the Minnesota Newspaper Association, which held its yearly convention in January.

The Press site earned honorable mention among weekly newspapers with circulations between 2,501 and 5,000. First place went to the Cottonwood County Citizen (Windom), and second place went to the Monticello Times.

The Litchfield Independent Review, which earned the Mills Trophy as the state's best weekly newspaper during the contest, also received honorable mention for its website.

Judge's comments about the Press website were: "The Press deserves credit for designing an original site. Also, archives going back to 1996 is (sic) a terrific feature."

The Press went online with www.paynesvillearea.com in 1996.
