According to the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 5:40 p.m. on Highway 22 near 240th Street, one mile south of Litchfield.
Renee Patzold, 22, Hutchinson, driving a 1996 Chevy Blazer, lost control and crossed over into oncoming traffic, colliding head on with a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird, driven by Christine Christle, who currently lives in Eden Valley.
Christle was pronounced dead at the scene. Patzold was taken to the Meeker County Hospital where she was treated.
