Rolling Timberwolves to play in Paynesville

As a fund raiser for the Boy Scouts attending the national jamboree, the Minnesota Rolling Timberwolves, a wheelchair basketball team, will be competing in Paynesville on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.

The Rolling Timberwolves is a team of 10 men who belong to the North Central Conference. This conference consists of teams from Minnesota, Nebraska, North and South Dakota.

Each quarter a different team from the Paynesville area will play. Team (Double Dribble Doctors) consists of: Dr. Greg Friederichs, Dr. Tim Malling, Dr. Randy Zimmerman, Dr. Thomas Sult, and Dr. Randy Norris.

Team II (On “A” Roll Teachers) is comprised of: Murry Rafferty, Bryan Mara, Todd Knudsvig, Cameron Mahlum, Dick Realdsen, and D.A.R.E. officer Tim Kantos.

Team III (Wallbangers) members are: Dan Wall, Ray Glenz, Jim O’Fallon, Dale Hess, Larry Wendroth, and KCLD radio personalities Mike Danger and Johnny Kage.

Team IV (Public Express) members are: Troy Stang, Dean Hanson, Pat Flanders, Bob Stoneburner, Senator Michelle Fischbach, Paynesville Mayor Jeff Thompson and Representative Doug Stang.

Refereeing the game will be Chuck Hagen and Rick Hoyme. Announcer will be Mary Janotta.

Proceeds from the fund raiser will help fund a trip to the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill near Fredericksburg, Va., for six Boy Scouts: James and Steve Gilk, Andy Torborg, Scott Ingalsbe, Jon Miller, and Joe Lingl.

Proceeds from the concession stand will go toward the Special Olympics. WCCO television will also be on hand for the fund raiser.
