Shumaker was the former volunteer coordinator and is now the director. She has been on the staff for about a year and took over her new position in January.

As the director, Shumaker said she is responsible for doing whatever she can to keep area seniors in their own homes. The R.O.S.E. Center is an advocacy program that provides services, primarily from volunteers, to the elderly. Services include providing transportation, doing light household chores, doing yard maintenance, and preparing meals. It also provide respite care for patients with Alzheimer's.

Schumaker also will be responsible for fund raising (including grant writing), maintaining records, writing a newsletter, and providing referrals for services it cannot provide.

After spending two years on the board of directors, Spaulding has been named the new volunteer coordinator, where she will be responsible for recruiting volunteers and matching them with the needs of clients. For instance, Spaulding is currently looking for volunteers to remove snow for area seniors.

The new team began working together last month after former director Tammy Wenke left to take a full-time position.

Schumaker and her husband, Paul, the site director at the Green Lake Bible Camp, live in Paynesville with their three children. She enjoys hanging out with her kids and reading.

Spaulding, who lives in Paynesville with her husband, Joe, who works at Farmers and Merchants State Bank, enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren, going to movies, and playing 500 with friends at the Paynesville Area Center.
