Rev. Allan Lindh - longtime pastor at Calvary Baptist - dies

Rev. Allan Lindh, 84, -Êwho served Calvary Baptist Church in Paynes-ville from 1971 to 1999 - died on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Cambridge Medical Center.

allan Lindh is the longest-serving pastor in the 51-year history of Calvary Baptist Church.

He also served the Manannah Union Protestant Church in Manannah from 1972 to 1987.

Rev. Allan Lindh - shown addressing a Lenten luncheon at Grace United Methodist in March 1999 - died last week in Cambridge. he served as the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Paynesville from 1971 to 1999, when he retired to Cambridge.

Lindh, born in Sweden in October 1920, emigrated to Canada, attending school in Saskatchewan and Alberta. He came to Minnesota to attend Bethel College, where he majored in history. In the 1950s, he also got married, attended Bethel Seminary, and became a U.S. citizen.

Lindh served the Russell Baptist Church from 1953 to 1967 and the Cottage Grove Baptist Church from 1967 to 1971 before coming to Calvary Baptist Church and to Paynesville in 1971.

Since his retirement in 1999, Lindh and his wife Lucille have lived in Cambridge.

Lindh's funeral was held on Friday, Jan. 28, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge and internment was in the Harris Covenant Cemetery, his wife's home church.

Lindh's survivors include Lucille, his wife of 53 years, and their three sons and their eight grandchildren. A full obituary can be found on page 8 this week.
