Orbeck, Spates honored with Triple A award

Nicole Orbeck and Jesse Spates, Paynesville High School seniors, were nominated for the Triple A Award. Established in 1988, the award, which is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League and the AAA Clubs of Minnesota, stands for academics, arts, and athletics. Any high school student who participates in League-sponsored athletic programs and fine arts activities, while also maintaining a 3.0 or higher grade point average can have a shot at earning this honor.

Jesse is the son of Ken and Dana Spates, and is a member of the Paynesville wrestling team. He also participates in football, pep and jazz band.

Nicole is the daughter of Jerome and Gayla Orbeck, and participates in basketball, yearbook, and band, as well as track and color guard in the spring.

Orbeck and Spates will be invited to a special banquet at the St. Paul Civic Center on Saturday, March 22, where League officials will announce the award winners and present the Triple “A” awards which include certificates, medals, plaques, and a four-year $1000 scholarship.
