Hilltop honored for food safety

By Bonnie Jo Hanson

Hill Top restaurant wins award Hilltop Family Restaurant was recognized last week for excellence in food safety when it was presented with the 2003 Food Safety Award from the Stearns County Board of Commissioners and Stearns County Environmental Services.

Hilltop was given the award because of the restaurant's consistent high scores on health department inspections.

Last year Stearns County began giving the award to one restaurant and one institution that excelled in cleanliness and food safety. According to Don Adams, environmental services director, the county decided that it was time to recognize those who do a really good job.

According to Hilltop manager Jeff Evans, the award is the result of the combined efforts of the restaurant staff - from the dishwashers to the wait staff. "It's a team effort," said Evans.

Hilltop Family Restaurant is owned by Ken and Marlys Evans. The restaurant has been in business nearly 25 years and employs 23 people.
