Seventh grader named princess for saddle club

Saddle club princess Brittney Spanier, 13, a seventh grader at Paynesville Area Middle School, was crowned the princess for 2002 by the Cold Spring Rocky Riders Saddle Club.

Brittney, the daughter of Dale and Sue Spanier of Paynesville, became eligible for the role as the club's ambassador by participating at five Western Saddle Club Association events in 2001, including parades and shows.

During Brittney's reign this year, she will represent the saddle club at parades, horse shows, and a rodeo. Her family plans to attend at least eight events in 2002, including five parades and one rodeo. During the parades, Brittney will lead the saddle club riders and carry the American flag.

Brittney and her family, including her two brothers, Justin, 17, and Trevor, 9, have been members of the saddle club for eight years. She is the granddaughter of Delbert and Dolores Spanier of Paynesville.
