Reward offered for information about burglary at Roscoe Post Office

By Michael Jacobson

The United States Postal Inspection Service is offering a $1,000 reward for information about the burglary of the post office in Roscoe in November.

To qualify for the reward, the information must lead to the arrest and conviction of the responsible parties.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Department is cooperating in the investigation.

The break-in occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Roscoe Bar, which also houses the Roscoe Post Office. Entry was made through the front door by smashing the window, according to the sheriff's office.

Once inside, the suspects stole many items, including some that are related to the post office.

The break-in occurred after the bar closed at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. The broken front door was noticed around 6 a.m. that morning. The sheriff's department is also investigating two other incidents, both involving theft and vandalism and both around St. Martin, from that same night. The sheriff's department considers these incidents related.

After two months, the investigation has exhausted local leads and needs new information to continue, according to the sheriff's office. They are seeking information from anyone who saw something suspicious on Saturday, Nov. 22, anyone with knowledge about the crime, or anyone who knows the whereabouts of any stolen property.

Anyone having something to report either can contact the Stearns County Sheriff's Depart-ment by calling 1-320-251-4240; can contact the United States Postal Inspection Service by calling 1-651-293-3200; or can make an anonymous tip by calling Tri-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-255-1301.
