Choral student sings at festival

Scott Ingalsbe Scott Ingalsbe, a senior at Paynesville Area High School, was part of a 1,400-member mass choir at the 51st Dorian Festival from Jan. 7-8.

More than 350 schools from seven states took part in the festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Ingalsbe, a second tenor, was one of 500 students who sang a solo during the mass choir performance on Monday night. He is the son of Dave and Barb Ingalsbe of Paynesville.

Cheryl Bungum, the choir director at Paynesville Area High School and Paynesville Area Middle School, attended workshops at the festival.

Two other Paynesville students were selected to participate in the festival but were unable to attend. Seniors Becca Gardner and Nathan Martinson were chosen to sing in the mass choir, but stayed home to play in the rescheduled band concert on Monday night.
