January students of the month

Winter camp is over for the sixth graders, school is getting back to normal after the Christmas holiday. The Paynesville Area Middle School announces their selection for the January Students of the Month.

Representing the sixth grade are Cassie Chrast and Ryan Wendlandt. Cassie is the daughter of Sheila and Fred Fleischhacker, rural Paynesville. Her teachers state Cassie is a thorough, conscientious student. She has a kind, thoughtful personality and gets along well with her classmates and staff. Cassie enjoys playing her clarinet, spending time with her friends and playing with her cats. She is a member of the sixth grade band and choir. When asked about her feelings on being named Student of the Month, Cassie replied, “It is an honor.”

Ryan Wendlandt is the son of Ken and Kristi Wendlandt, rural Paynesville. His teachers state Ryan takes good care to do his work well. He is involved in school and is a positive addition to the middle school. Ryan enjoys snowmobiling and doing chores in his free time. He was a member of the sixth grade football team. When asked about his feelings on being chosen Student of the Month, Ryan states, “It makes me feel good.”

Representing the seventh grade are Jason Leyendecker and Jenna Berry. Jenna is the daughter of John and Peggy Berry, Paynesville. Her teachers state Jenna is a good student, is involved in school activities and is a consistent worker. Jenna likes going to her friend’s houses and attending basketball games. She is a member of the middle school FLA. When asked about her feelings on being chosen Student of the Month, Jenna replied, “Being chosen is not a big deal to me.”

Jason Leyendecker is the son of Mark and Janelle Leyendecker, rural Paynesville. His teachers state he is a good student, an active person who is concerned about his work and fellow students. Jason lists as his interests playing sports, riding his horse and working on the farm. He is a member of the middle school choir, pops choir and wrestling team. When asked about his feelings on being named Student of the Month, Jason replied, “I was surprised.”

Mark Brossard and Leanne Kolb were recognized in the eighth grade. Leanne is the daughter of John and Theresa Kolb, rural Paynesville. Her teachers state Leanne is very respectful and conscientious. She genuinely cares about school and the people around her. She is a very hard worker. Leanne lists as her interests horseback riding, track, 4-H, working on the farm and church. She is a member of the Knowledge Bowl team, middle school choir and track team. When asked about her feelings on being chosen Student of the Month, Leanne replied, “I am very proud to be Paynesville’s Student of the Month.”

Mark Brossard is the son of Ron and Rita Brossard, rural Paynesville. His teachers state Mark is very dedicated. He possesses a great attitude. Mark’s personality positively affects those around him. Mark lists as his interests downhill skiing, snowmobiling, biking and doing stuff with his friends. Mark is a member of the middle school choir and pops choir, band and golf team. When asked about his feelings on being named Student of the Month, Mark replied, “It is an honor. I feel very proud.”
