The first baby of 1998 at the Paynesville Area Health Care System was Melanie Katheryn Marana born on Monday, Jan. 5, at 10:09 a.m.
She weighed in at 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 inches long.
She will be welcomed home by her brother, Anthony, 5.
Local businesses presented her with many gifts as the first baby of the new year.
