Physician assistant starts for PAHCS

By Bonnie Jo Hanson

charChar Granite of Albany recently joined the medical staff of the Paynes-ville Area Health Care System as a physician assistant at the Richmond Area Medical Clinic, where she will specialize in family medicine.

Granite began her new job at the start of January. Though she hasn't been there a long time, she already loves it, she said. The staff at PAHCS shares a wonderful sense of teamwork, she said. "I feel privileged to pe part of the team," she added.

Working in a rural area was also important to Granite, so she feels lucky to be able to practice in Richmond.

Granite has been a physician assistant for more than seven years. She graduated from Augsberg College and actually trained at PAHCS for several months before graduating, so she knew she would like working there. Before joining the PAHCS staff, she worked for the St. Cloud Hospital at its clinic in Cold Spring.

Granite wears several professional hats. Besides being a physician assistant, she also raises horses and Newfoundland dogs on the hobby farm near Albany that she shares with her husband Dennis and their four children. In addition, Granite is a captain in the Minnesota National Guard.
