Paynesville Township Board
Don Pietsch

Don Pietsch, 70, has served on the Paynesville Township Board of Supervisors for four terms (since 1998), including as board chair for more than a decade. He is a retired school administator and teacher.

Why are you running for township office? I would like to continue working to make sure Paynes-ville Township remains an independent, cooperative, self-governing unit driven by grassroots governmental principles. I would like to continue working cooperatively with the city of Paynesville, area counties, and state and federal agencies to make our township as strong as possible but still remain independent as a township government. I would like to continue working hard with others to maintain a balance of services, programs, and their funding to enhance a quality of life we have enjoyed in Paynesville Township.

What accomplishments on the board would you list as reasons for re-election? Agreements such as our Joint Orderly Annexation Agreement with the city; my appointment and election to legislative boards, county committees, etc. I believe I have worked towards positioning Paynesville Township independence for a long time to come. I have and will continue to cooperate with other units of government to improve and enhance our programs and services, so they can continue to be efficient and affordable. I take pride in getting the most out of our tax dollars.

How should taxes and services be balanced in Paynesville Township? It is a fine line between what we can afford and what services should be provided in order to maintain the quality of life we enjoy in Paynesville Township. I will work hard to continue to improve the services and programs at the highest efficient rate possible with tax dollars kept in mind.

What is your long-range vision for Paynesville Township? What do you expect to accomplish towards this vision in the next four years? Paynesville will experience growth development and challenges in the next four years. It is my desire that we will be able to maintain our independence and continue to produce services and programs we have enjoyed. I will continue to cooperate and fine tune our programs and services so that we may have a balance and a fair use of tax dollars.
