Vic Voecks, 69, Hamilton, N.D. Vic A. Voecks, 69, of Hamilton, N.D., died on Monday, Aug. 24, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier, N.D. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cavalier. Burial was in the Hamilton Cemetery. Vicke A. Voecks was born on Sept. 1, 1945, to Arthur and Gladys (McEwen) Voecks in Grafton, N.D. He attended school in Hamilton, N.D., graduating in 1963. He then attended Hanson Trade School in Fargo. Vic served in the North Dakota National Guard. On July 3, 1966, Vic married Carol A. Furstenau in Cavalier. Together, they farmed on the family farmstead until his retirement. Carol passed away on Oct. 25, 2013. Vic is survived by his children, Kristy Voecks of Minot, N.D., and Darin Voecks of Paynesville; a granddaughter; mother-in-law, Edna Furstenau; and three brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and half-sister, Mabel Draper.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Paynesville. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Dina Maren Thompson was born on May 2, 1972, to Gerald and Helen (Olson) VanDorsten in Paynesville.
She was baptized and confirmed at Nordland Lutheran Church and attended New London-Spicer schools, graduating in 1990.
After high school, she worked as an aide at Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. She later attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston.
Dina is survived by her father, Gerald VanDorsten of Hawick; siblings, Marten (Bernice) VanDorsten, Karl (Manda) VanDorsten, and Judy (Jim) Kulset; special friend, Dennis Morpimer; and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dina was preceded in death by her mother, Helen, and grandparents, Peder and Helga Olson and Maynard and Bertha VanDorsten.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Leo Earl Keller was born on April 10, 1930, to Earl and Neilsine (Mortensen) in Willow River, Minn.
He grew up in Willow River, where he received his primary education.
The family moved to Moose Lake, where Leo attended high school and graduated with the Class of 1949.
On Sept. 27, 1951, Leo enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country until Sept. 26, 1955, when he earned his Honorable Discharge.
After his return home, Leo began college at Minnesota School of Business, where he graduated in 1957 and went on to NDSU, where he earned his bachelor of science degree.
On June 21, 1963, Leo married Betty Lou Erickson in Moose Lake, Minn. The couple shared 52 years of marriage. This union was blessed with a son and a daughter.
The family made their home in Fairfax, Minn., where Leo owned and operated a pharmacy.
In 1987, Leo sold his pharmacy, and he and Betty moved to their lake home in Paynesville. They later moved to their current home in town.
Leo is survived by his wife, Betty; children Troy Keller of Burnsville and Kim (Paul) Anderson of Eagan; five grandchildren; and a sister-in-law.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Uzone in Paynesville.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. MargaretÕs Catholic Church in Lake Henry. Burial was in St. MargaretÕs Parish Cemetery in Lake Henry. Eddie was born on Oct. 26, 1954, to Edward J. Sr. and Alma (Reinhofer) Horn in Paynesville. Most of his working life was spent in the construction industry. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Lake Henry Fire Department for many years was president of the local fire relief association. He was also a member of St. MargaretÕs Catholic Church in Lake Henry. Eddie is survived by his brothers and sisters, John (Mary) Horn of Lake Henry, Francis (Marilyn) Horn of Richmond, Dewayne (Doreen) Horn of St. Cloud, Diane (Dennis) Garvey of Watertown, S.D., and Mary Jane Philabaum of Sauk Rapids, as well as many nieces and nephews.
